Smartphones were just sparking our imagination, and social media hadn’t yet become a parallel universe.

Today, it all feels like second nature—because someone, at some point, had that one good idea. And then refused to give up.

The vision that drives us

The story of Vasco began with a single question: How can we help the world speak with one voice? The idea of breaking down language barriers was fueled by the courage to chase something that once felt almost impossible. The paths we forged back then quickly became the direction for the entire industry. And ever since, we’ve been steadily pushing the boundaries of communication—revolution after revolution.

Maybe it’s because the challenge was so tough that it captured our full attention.

From words to action

Maciej Góralski founded a company that initially produced language-learning flashcards and sold the first translation devices. In collaboration with BBC World Service, they also created audio courses. But in his mind, a bigger plan was already taking shape.

Vasco Berrio was born in response to numerous customer requests. It became the first independent speech translation device on the market.

One of the most impressive demos I had at CES 2024 was with the team of the Vasco Translator E1, an earpiece that uses AI and an app to translate 49 languages in real time.

Vasco wants the translation tools to meet the needs of customers who travel regularly, as well as those who are ex-pats, working in international teams or are in families that have language barriers due to relatives being from different countries.

You can literally travel the world and ues this device and get around and not feel lost in a country.

This language translation device is my life raft while living abroad. It allows for a near-seamless back-and-forth conversation.
