In cooperation with the Jordan Health Aid Society and Terre des hommes, our team conducted a two-day training course for medical personnel on the following issues: trauma rescue, hemorrhage control, segregation in mass incidents, emergency management in obstetrics, gynecology in pregnant women, and care of the newborn.
PMM Vasco Emergency Team also participated in a seminar organized by Terre des Hommes Italia, so we also absorbed a good portion of knowledge from topics such as: Legal aspects of providing assistance to refugees, cultural aspects of providing assistance to women in emergency situations, psychological support for women and children, major medical problems of Syrian refugees and Jordan’s poorest population, providing assistance in emergency situations in the area bordering Syria, interaction of services present on the ground, organization of medical care in informal refugee camps.
The schedule of classes was very busy. We also visited a Syrian refugee camp on site to learn about their needs and ways to help them even more effectively.
We conducted the lectures and exercises with the help of Vasco Translator V4 electronic translator, which also came in handy when moving around the city and in the refugee camps, where it perfectly broke the communication barrier and raised more than a few smiles of surprise.
