A part of PMM Vasco Emergency Team was on a visit to Iraq, where they trained local medical teams that work in refugee camps in Kurdistan.

The 3-day training benefited 24 medical professionals, including doctors, gynecologists, ultrasound technicians, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, dentists and dental technicians.

The program covered topics such as mental health care for medical personnel, health promotion and the administration of drugs and antibiotics. Participants had the opportunity to learn, among other things, methods of coping with stress at work, approaches to health promotion in refugee camps, or treatment procedures for specific medical cases.

The trainings were conducted by psychologist Joanna Trela, family doctor Piotr Furman, nurse Paula Leznicka and pharmacist Tomasz Grzelczak. They were held as part of the project “Medical and dental assistance to refugees, displaced persons and the local community in Erbil and Al-Hamdaniya governorates in Iraq,” funded by the Polish Aid Program of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
